Software Engineer, Backend
This team is building systems that design, run, and rigorously evaluate novel AI experiments—essentially, an automated research lab for foundation models. You’ll own the backend that orchestrates massive compute workloads, tracks experiment lineages, and surfaces insights to researchers. It’s a chance to work at the intersection of infrastructure and scientific discovery, where the thing you’re accelerating isn’t a product feature but the pace of AI progress itself. The code you write will directly determine how quickly new ideas become verified results.
What they're looking for
- 2–5 years of backend engineering experience, with deep fluency in Python
- Comfortable designing and running workloads on GCP (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Vertex AI, or similar)
- Experience building reliable pipelines or orchestration layers for computationally intensive tasks
- Instinct for clean APIs and data models that make complex workflows feel simple for internal users
- Excited to work on-site in San Francisco with a tight-knit, research-driven team of about ten people
