We’re a tiny, well-capitalized team attacking one of the most opaque corners of American healthcare: the drug supply chain. Instead of the usual spread-based pricing games, we’ve built an API-first pricing and fulfillment layer that gives employers flat, predictable drug costs—the kind of clarity Stripe brought to payments, applied to pharmacy benefits. As the first engineering hire after the founders, you’ll shape the core platform, stand up new data pipelines and services, and lay the technical and cultural foundation for the engineering org that grows around you. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where you’ll touch everything from claim adjudication logic to customer-facing tooling, working in a small room in New York with people who care deeply about correctness, speed, and redesigning a broken market.
What they're looking for
- 3–8 years of backend engineering experience, with fluency in Python and a modern framework like FastAPI
- Comfort designing and operating relational data models in PostgreSQL
- Experience building or integrating with APIs in a B2B setting; healthcare, fintech, or logistics backgrounds are especially relevant
- Product-minded with the judgment to make solid architectural decisions without a spec for every edge case
- Willingness to work across the stack when needed, including some frontend work in React and TypeScript
