Scientists formulating the next generation of batteries, coatings, and therapeutics are still wrestling with fragmented lab data—spread across instruments, legacy LIMS, and ad-hoc spreadsheets. We're building the connective tissue that turns that chaos into a unified, queryable backbone for discovery, and we need a technical lead who can design and deliver the integration layer that makes it all hum. You'll sit at the intersection of customer-facing problem solving and deep backend work, architecting robust pipelines in Python and Go that pull data from hundreds of scientific instruments and enterprise systems into a clean REST API surface. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where you'll shape integration strategy, mentor a small team, and occasionally step into a customer conversation to understand a gnarly instrument protocol or a weird CSV dialect—because the details matter when the output is a safer battery or a faster drug candidate.
What they're looking for
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong fluency in Python and a working command of Go for performance-critical services
- Proven track record designing, building, and maintaining production REST APIs and event-driven integrations on AWS
- Comfortable operating in a customer-facing capacity—gathering technical requirements, troubleshooting integration issues, and translating lab workflows into software designs
- Experience mentoring engineers and setting technical direction for a squad, with clear communication and a bias toward shipping incrementally
- Genuine curiosity about physical-world domains like life sciences, chemistry, or manufacturing; prior exposure to laboratory instruments, LIMS, or scientific data formats is a strong plus
