Building the foundational data layer that connects scientific research with modern AI infrastructure.

Senior Full Stack Engineer

San FranciscoOn-site$180K - $220K4 - 8 years
We're a small, well-funded team that started this year with a clear conviction: scientific progress is throttled by fragmented, inaccessible data. Our platform ingests, normalizes, and structures research outputs across life sciences, making them queryable and machine-ready for labs, biotechs, and government agencies. As the second engineering hire, you'll shape the architecture from the ground up—owning features across a Python/Django backend and a Next.js frontend, deploying on GCP, and working directly with the founders to turn a working prototype into a product that researchers actually rely on. This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role where your decisions on data modeling, API design, and UI performance will define the developer and researcher experience for years.

What they're looking for

  • 4–8 years of professional experience building and shipping full-stack web applications, with deep fluency in Python (Django) and TypeScript (Next.js)
  • Comfortable modeling complex, relational data and designing clean APIs that serve both internal and external consumers
  • Experience deploying and managing services on cloud infrastructure, ideally GCP, with an eye toward observability and reliability
  • Strong product intuition and communication skills—you're eager to talk to researchers, understand their workflows, and translate that into pragmatic engineering decisions
  • Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco and work on-site with a tight-knit, in-person team
