A well-funded physical AI company deploying robots across food, mining, and transport—real machines in messy, real-world environments.
Senior Backend Software Engineer
Your first year will reshape how autonomous systems receive and act on data at the edge. You'll own the services that connect a growing fleet of industrial robots to mission-critical workflows, designing APIs and streaming pipelines that handle sensor fusion, telemetry, and real-time decisioning at substantial throughput. This isn't a pure software house; you'll collaborate closely with hardware, perception, and field-ops teams to ensure the backend directly governs physical machines operating in mines, processing plants, and logistics yards. The problems are concrete: low-latency command delivery, deterministic state reconciliation, and resilient offline operation in bandwidth-constrained sites. We're looking for someone who finds that combination of systems thinking and physical consequence genuinely motivating.
What they're looking for
- 5–8 years building production backend systems, with deep fluency in Java or Go and a track record of optimizing for latency and throughput
- Experience designing event-driven architectures, streaming data pipelines, and APIs that serve time-sensitive consumers
- Comfort reasoning about distributed state, fault tolerance, and exactly-once semantics in environments where connectivity is intermittent
- Prior exposure to robotics, autonomous vehicles, industrial IoT, or similarly hardware-adjacent systems is a strong advantage
- Clear written communication and a bias for working alongside mechanical, electrical, and field engineers—not just other software teams
