A metals manufacturing startup scaling cleaner, faster American rare earth production.
Senior Mechanical Engineer
Your mornings might start reviewing thermal simulations for a new molten salt reactor, then pivot to the shop floor in San Francisco where you'll troubleshoot why a custom vacuum induction furnace isn't hitting spec. You'll own mechanical systems from first-principles design through commissioning—translating whiteboard sketches into hardware that handles 1,500°C without flinching. The team is small enough that your CAD decisions become physical reality within weeks, not quarters.
What they're looking for
- 6-10 years designing high-temperature mechanical systems or heavy industrial equipment, with shipped hardware you can point to
- Deep familiarity with ASME BPVC, pressure vessel design, and thermal-mechanical stress analysis
- SolidWorks or Inventor fluency plus experience specifying alloys, seals, and cooling architectures for extreme environments
- Comfortable leading design reviews and working directly with machinists and welders to refine prototypes on-site
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering; experience in vacuum, inert atmosphere, or molten metal systems preferred
