The planning team designs motion strategies and high-level behaviors that let robots thread through unstructured, safety-critical environments — dense warehouse aisles, active mine benches, live loading docks — without hesitation. You'll own the stack from behavioral state machines to sampling-based path planners, working in C++ and Python to make real-time decisions on perception inputs and vehicle constraints. This isn't simulation theater: your code ships to hundreds of machines that clock thousands of autonomous hours every week, so every optimization, every edge case, and every recovery maneuver has immediate, measurable weight. You'll partner tightly with controls, perception, and systems engineers to harden planning logic against the combinatorics and chaos of the physical world.

What they're looking for

  • 2–4 years writing production motion planning or decision-making software for autonomous systems, robotics, or related fields
  • Fluency in modern C++ and Python, with a working understanding of data structures, sampling algorithms, and numerical computing (NumPy, Eigen, or similar)
  • Experience with planning frameworks — A*, RRT, trajectory optimization, MPC, or behavior trees — deployed on real hardware
  • Comfort debugging latency-sensitive, multi-threaded systems and profiling performance bottlenecks
  • Strong systems intuition: you think in state spaces, cost functions, and failure modes, not just APIs
