Backend Engineer

Every day, our systems match niche roles at high-growth startups and VC firms with the specialized recruiters who can actually fill them — and the backend is where that intelligence lives. You'll design data models that capture the nuance of thousands of overlapping skill sets, build APIs that power a two-sided marketplace, and ensure our matching logic gets smarter with every placement. This is a role for engineers who see PostgreSQL schemas as puzzles and take quiet pride in response times measured in single-digit milliseconds.
What they're looking for
- 1–6 years of professional experience building and maintaining production backend systems
- Deep fluency with TypeScript and NodeJS, including experience designing REST or GraphQL APIs
- Strong relational data modeling skills in PostgreSQL, with opinions on indexing and query optimization
- Comfort owning deployment pipelines and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Terraform, CI/CD)
- A habit of writing clear, minimal design docs before reaching for the keyboard
