Data activation platform that moves warehouse intelligence into business tools
Software Engineer, Customer Studio Backend
The backend team for Customer Studio is building the engine that lets non-technical users query petabyte-scale warehouses through natural language, then sync those insights directly into the operational tools their teams already use. You'll own the systems that translate conversational intent into executable SQL, manage the orchestration layer that keeps hundreds of thousands of syncs reliable, and harden the infrastructure against the entropy of enterprise workloads. This sits at the intersection of AI inference, distributed systems, and the messy reality of production data pipelines—there's no playbook for most of what you'll ship.
What they're looking for
- 6+ years shipping backend systems in production, with substantial depth in at least one of: distributed query engines, data pipeline orchestration, or LLM-integrated applications
- Proven ability to design APIs and services that abstract complexity for downstream consumers—experience with reverse-ETL or data activation patterns is a strong plus
- Track record of building on OpenAI or comparable LLM APIs in production settings, including prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and failure-mode handling
- Fluency in the tradeoffs of warehouse query planning, columnar storage, or streaming systems; you've debugged performance at scale
- Comfort working across time zones with a remote-first engineering culture, with presence in either Canada or San Francisco
