We are building a classroom without walls—where a teenager in São Paulo can learn algebra from a peer in Seattle, and where curiosity, not geography, determines opportunity. As a mid-level engineer on a lean team of 15, you will shape features that make these connections feel effortless: designing intuitive session flows, refining matching logic, and crafting tools that help mentors lead with confidence. This is full-stack work with real range—one day you might model data for a new skill-building track in PostgreSQL, the next you could ship a real-time collaboration surface in Next.js. We aim for craft and warmth in every interaction, because the product itself is a relationship between two learners.
What they're looking for
- 3–6 years of professional experience building and shipping web applications with TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- Comfortable working across the stack, including relational databases (PostgreSQL) and cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP)
- A track record of writing clear, tested code and making pragmatic tradeoffs in a small-team environment
- Genuine interest in education, community-driven products, or consumer experiences that prioritize human connection
- Strong communication habits: you can walk a teammate through a technical decision or gather nuance from a non-technical collaborator
