Lead Applied AI Engineer
We are building a new kind of design environment—one where generative models don't just assist, but fundamentally reshape how ideas become form. As our first Applied AI hire, you'll own the bridge between frontier research and a product that designers will actually use every day. That means turning diffusion models, large language models, and real-time inference systems into responsive, composable interfaces that feel immediate and precise. You'll work directly with the founding team to define the architecture, ship experiments fast, and set the technical direction for how intelligence gets embedded into the canvas itself.
What they're looking for
- 5–10 years of hands-on engineering experience, with deep fluency in TypeScript, NodeJS, and Python
- Proven ability to productionize generative models—diffusion, transformers, or multimodal systems—into user-facing applications
- Strong intuition for latency, concurrency, and real-time system design; you've built interactive tools, not just pipelines
- Comfortable operating in a small, high-autonomy team where you'll shape roadmap decisions and mentor future hires
- On-site in San Francisco, working alongside a 19-person team of designers, engineers, and researchers
