You will write the embedded and autonomy software that keeps ocean-going robots sailing true through 50-knot gales and executing long-duration missions without a human hand on the tiller. Your days involve tuning sensor fusion pipelines, hardening path planners against real-world sea states, and tracing a bug that only surfaces after three weeks in the North Pacific. The code you ship directly decides whether a vehicle comes home or carries out its surveillance and mapping task alone for months.
What they're looking for
- 5+ years shipping production C/C++ and Python in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or marine systems
- Deep grasp of state estimation, localization, and behavior planning in stochastic environments
- Demonstrated success deploying and debugging software on physical hardware, not just simulation
- Track record working with cross-functional teams spanning mechanical, electrical, and mission operations
- Comfortable with intermittent connectivity and designing for fault tolerance where recovery is days or weeks away
