Staff Backend Engineer

You'll architect and ship the systems that power authentication, inventory, and transactions for rare physical goods. On a typical day you might tune a PostgreSQL query that's bottlenecking checkout, review a teammate's Terraform changes for a new K8s service, or prototype a Stripe integration for a novel payment flow. The backend team owns everything from event-driven pipelines to fraud signals, so your code directly shapes trust in a market where authenticity matters.

What they're looking for

  • 8+ years shipping production backend systems, with significant time in TypeScript and Node.js at scale
  • Deep experience with PostgreSQL query optimization, schema design, and running relational databases under load
  • Proven work with AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
  • Comfort owning cross-functional projects end-to-end, from API design through deployment and monitoring
  • Background in marketplace, ecommerce, or two-sided platforms with complex transaction flows is a strong plus
