You'll spend mornings tuning PostgreSQL queries that surface case-law patterns attorneys actually use, then prototype retrieval pipelines marrying ElasticSearch with LLM outputs. Data quality is the product here: expect to build ingestion systems that transform messy court filings into structured signals, not just ship features. Some afternoons you'll pair with the small frontend team in TypeScript; others you'll debug why a Dockerized GCP worker choked on a 400-page brief at 2 a.m.

What they're looking for

  • 2+ years shipping production Python, with at least one project touching data pipelines or search infrastructure
  • Solid PostgreSQL and enough ElasticSearch to reason about relevance scoring and cluster health
  • Experience deploying on GCP or AWS with Docker; comfort troubleshooting in production
  • Readiness to work on-site in New York with a tight-knit technical team
  • Genuine curiosity about legal data: messy text, citation graphs, and the humans who parse them
