A physical AI company deploying thousands of autonomous robots across food, mining, and transport.

Robotics Test Engineer

San FranciscoOn-site$182K - $230K5 - 7 years
Your first year here will define how a fleet of heavy autonomous machines proves itself safe enough to work alongside people in mines, freight yards, and food processing plants. You won't be running scripts against a web app. You'll design test campaigns that push multi-ton robotic systems to their breaking point—on purpose—so that what ships to a customer site doesn't break unexpectedly. This means crafting rigorous hardware-in-the-loop scenarios, writing C++ and Python test harnesses that exercise perception stacks and motion controllers, and building the traceability between a field failure and the regression case that should have caught it. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with mechanical, electrical, and autonomy engineers in our San Francisco lab, where real robots run real cycles every day.

What they're looking for

  • 5–7 years of test or QA engineering experience on cyber-physical systems: robots, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, or similarly complex hardware-software stacks
  • Fluency in C++ and Python for developing test automation, hardware interfaces, and data analysis pipelines
  • Proven ability to design test strategies that combine simulation, HIL/SIL, and physical proving-ground execution
  • Comfort working on-site in a lab and machine shop environment where safety, rigor, and hands-on troubleshooting are non-negotiable
  • Instinct for root cause: you treat a failed test as the starting point of an investigation, not just a ticket to file
