Platform indexing every startup on earth for investors and enterprise teams
Staff Backend Engineer
You'll architect the ingestion pipelines that process millions of unstructured signals into structured company profiles — earnings calls, patent filings, job posts, web traffic — then build the APIs that let customers query that intelligence in milliseconds. Most days involve tracing a data anomaly back through a TypeScript service layer to its Python extraction root, or designing a new NodeJS endpoint that handles sudden spikes when a trending startup hits the radar. This is backend work where the domain complexity rivals the technical: understanding how a Series B hardware company's hiring velocity translates to revenue growth is as important as optimizing the join that surfaces it.
What they're looking for
- 7+ years shipping production backend systems, with meaningful depth in Python or TypeScript/NodeJS
- Experience with high-volume data pipelines: schema evolution, idempotent ingestion, and observability across distributed services
- Comfort navigating ambiguity in problem definition — you can prototype against a vague requirement and refine through iteration
- Track record of mentoring engineers and elevating code review, testing, and documentation standards on a team
- Based in or willing to relocate to metro New York; hybrid schedule with meaningful in-person collaboration
