The compute substrate sitting beneath one of the largest developer platforms is getting rebuilt. Tens of thousands of workloads launch every day on a fleet that spans continents, and the team responsible for its orchestration layer is rethinking how provisioning, capacity, and isolation should work for both classic web services and GPU-heavy inference jobs. You will design the control plane that decides where and how code runs—scheduling containers across bare-metal hosts, hardening multi-tenant boundaries, and pushing resource efficiency further than off-the-shelf Kubernetes permits. This is low-level systems work with high leverage: every millisecond of scheduling latency and every percentage point of utilization you claw back compounds across an enormous install base of applications and APIs.
What they're looking for
- 7+ years writing and operating production infrastructure, with deep fluency in Kubernetes internals (controllers, schedulers, CRDs, CRI/CNI).
- Strong systems programming skills in Go or Rust, including experience debugging performance and concurrency issues under real traffic.
- Demonstrated ability to reason about Linux primitives—cgroups, namespaces, seccomp, eBPF—and apply them to hard multi-tenancy problems.
- History of owning capacity planning, autoscaling, or fleet orchestration for hundreds or thousands of machines.
- Comfortable with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and relational data models (PostgreSQL) to build operational safety into control plane tooling.
