The Pentagon can buy interceptors faster than industry can build them, and the propulsion section is a big part of why. We're a small, well-funded team working to change that arithmetic: designing solid rocket motors that can be produced in the thousands, not dozens. As our development engineer for solid rocket motors, you'll own propulsion design and test campaigns from first grain layup through static fire, iterating quickly on hardware that has to work the first time it flies. Expect real parts in your hands most weeks, Python in your toolchain, and a direct line between your analysis and a motor on the stand.
What they're looking for
- 5-15 years developing solid rocket motors or related propulsion systems, with hands-on test experience
- Fluency in motor design tradeoffs: propellant grain design, case and nozzle structures, thermal and erosion analysis
- Track record of taking propulsion hardware from concept through static qualification
- Comfortable building test infrastructure and analysis pipelines in Python
- US person status and ability to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance
