Your first year will be defined by architecting the query layer that lets non-technical users ask complex questions of massive datasets and get answers in seconds, not days. You'll design and harden the distributed systems that ingest, process, and serve structured enterprise data at scale, blending Python's ecosystem with Rust's performance where it counts. This is high-ownership backend work—building semantic understanding into data pipelines, optimizing multi-tenant workloads, and shaping how an entire organization reasons about its numbers. You'll ship features that make analytical depth feel effortless, working alongside a tight team of engineers who care deeply about correctness, latency, and developer experience.
What they're looking for
- 4+ years building production backend systems, with deep fluency in Python and a strong grasp of Rust or TypeScript
- Experience designing and scaling distributed data processing pipelines or query engines
- Comfort reasoning about SQL semantics, query optimization, and the internals of analytical databases
- Track record of owning features end-to-end in a high-growth or early-stage environment with ambitious technical standards
- Instinct for turning ambiguous user needs into durable, well-tested APIs and data models
