Data centers, defense platforms, and power generation all run into the same wall: heat. Cooling hardware designed with conventional methods leaves enormous performance on the table, while AI-driven geometry can only pay off if someone can actually print it in metal. That someone is you. As the founding manufacturing hire at a seed-funded DC startup, you'll own the path from optimized thermal design to qualified part: selecting and running metal AM processes, managing print vendors, driving post-processing and inspection, and proving that radical geometries survive real-world loads. You'll work shoulder to shoulder with a small design team and have unusual influence over how the whole manufacturing operation gets built.
What they're looking for
- 3+ years in additive manufacturing of metal parts (e.g., laser powder bed fusion or directed energy deposition), from process setup through post-processing and inspection
- Mechanical engineering background with fluency in design-for-AM constraints, tolerances, and build orientation tradeoffs
- Hands-on experience qualifying parts against demanding requirements; comfort with CMM, CT scanning, or destructive testing
- Experience with heat treatment, HIP, and finishing of printed components for thermal or structural performance
- Ability to operate independently in a small team and communicate clearly with defense and industrial customers
