You'll spend mornings untangling Kafka lag in a multi-region Kubernetes estate and afternoons designing Terraform modules that let product engineers ship without paging you. This team runs the AWS backbone for an AI-heavy platform that handles sensitive financial data—resilience and auditability matter as much as velocity. Expect to pair with someone shipping a Rust service one hour and debug a Java memory leak the next, then argue in a design doc about why one AZ failure shouldn't slow month-end closes.
What they're looking for
- Eight or more years owning production infrastructure, with deep AWS and Kubernetes scars to show for it
- Fluency in Terraform and at least one of Python, TypeScript, or Rust—enough to read, critique, and occasionally patch application code
- Track record of designing CI/CD pipelines that stay fast as teams and repositories multiply
- Experience hardening systems that touch regulated or financial data; you think in blast radius and recovery time
- Comfort mentoring senior engineers and influencing architecture without direct authority
