Head of Engineering
You'll spend your mornings in code review, afternoons in 1:1s with a team of five engineers building wet-lab software, and your evenings whiteboarding data architectures that connect genomic pipelines to clinical decisions. This is still a small shop where your commits matter, but the systems you design will need to scale from ten-person operations to supporting a hundred scientists. You'll own the line between what runs in AWS today and what we might need from GCP or Snowflake tomorrow, all while keeping interfaces clean enough for biologists who'd rather pipette than parse JSON.
What they're looking for
- 6+ years shipping production software, with at least two leading engineering teams in healthcare, biotech, or regulated data environments
- Deep fluency in Python and modern web stacks: TypeScript, React, FastAPI; you can still step in when the build breaks
- Proven track record designing data infrastructure on AWS, with hands-on exposure to GCP, Snowflake, or Terraform
- Experience building internal tools for scientists—bonus if those tools touched genomic, imaging, or compound data
- Comfort with ambiguity and real technical debt; you know when to refactor and when to ship
