Defense robotics startup building attritable autonomous underwater vehicles for denied environments
Senior Mechanical Engineer
You'll spend Monday mornings reviewing pressure-test data from hull prototypes that failed at depth, then sketch weld fixes over lunch with the fabrication lead. By Thursday you're running modal analysis on a new thruster mount, deciding whether titanium or 6061-T6 wins the weight budget. This is hands-on work: Fusion 360 to CNC to tank testing, with zero buffer between your CAD and the ocean.
What they're looking for
- 5-7 years designing sealed mechanical systems for marine, aerospace, or similarly harsh environments
- Deep fluency in structural FEA and fatigue analysis for components under cyclic hydrostatic loading
- Direct experience with composite or metallic pressure vessel design, including DfM for bonded/welded joints
- Proven ownership of hardware through build, test, and iteration cycles — not paper-only designs
- Comfort working in small, co-located teams where you own your cal stack and your grease stains
