You'll own the data layer for systems that process rent rolls, maintenance workflows, and tenant communications across thousands of units. Most days involve modeling complex relational schemas in MySQL, building resilient Java services on AWS, and pairing with frontend engineers to shape React components that actually make sense to on-site property managers. The work sits at the intersection of real estate operations and machine learning — your APIs feed models that predict HVAC failures and optimize lease pricing.
What they're looking for
- 5-7 years shipping production Java, with demonstrable work on high-throughput data systems
- Deep comfort with MySQL at scale — partitioning, query optimization, replication tradeoffs
- Hands-on AWS architecture: EC2, RDS, SQS or equivalent, with opinions on when managed services fail
- Working knowledge of modern React and CSS; you can read a component tree and spot the performance sink
- Experience in B2B enterprise or regulated domains where uptime commitments translate to contract dollars
