Well-funded physical AI robotics firm automating food, mining, and transport operations

Senior Backend Software Engineer

SeattleOn-site$167K - $230K5 - 10 years
You'll shepherd sensor data and control commands between field robots and cloud systems that decide when trucks haul, arms pack, or drills pivot. Most days center on hardening the services that ingest telemetry from harsh environments—dusty quarries, freezing distribution centers, loading docks at midnight—and turning that firehose into reliable signals for fleet orchestration. The work sits at the intersection of heavy hardware and elastic infrastructure: expect to reason about millisecond latency for safety-critical decisions while also designing for the async realities of machines that lose connectivity underground or at sea.

What they're looking for

  • 5+ years building production backend systems in Java, Go, or NodeJS with measurable scale and uptime demands
  • Deep experience with AWS or GCP primitives—not just console-clicking, but infrastructure-as-code and cost-aware architecture
  • Demonstrated ownership of CI/CD pipelines you've debugged at 2am when a bad deploy threatened active operations
  • Comfort working adjacent to hardware teams, translating mechanical constraints into API contracts and backpressure strategies
  • Track record of operational rigor: structured logging, circuit breakers, graceful degradation in systems where failure means physical downtime
