You'll spend mornings elbows-deep in actuator prototypes, afternoons running torque tests on a custom gear train, and evenings whiteboarding why a joint keeps overshooting its setpoint. This role lives at the intersection of mechanical intuition and electrical rigor—designing the physical nervous system of machines that will actually build things again.
What they're looking for
- 1–5 years designing electromechanical systems, with shipped hardware you can point to
- Fluency in motor control, sensor integration, and power distribution for robotic platforms
- Hands-on machining or rapid-prototyping skills; you know when to mill and when to print
- Comfort owning a subsystem from concept to validation without a 20-person team behind you
- Willing to be in the San Francisco Bay Area full-time, in a shop as much as at a desk
