The team is rethinking what it means to interact with software at all — moving from reactive tools that wait for commands to intelligence that understands context, anticipates needs, and takes initiative. This is not a thin wrapper around a chat interface; it's an agentic system that observes how you operate, builds a model of your intent, and executes multi-step tasks without micromanagement. As the founding applied engineer, you'll shape the core product alongside two other technical founders, turning ambitious research into something people use every day. The work sits at the intersection of systems design, model evaluation, and product craft — you'll build pipelines, fine-tune behavior, and ship features that directly determine how autonomous an agent can genuinely become.
What they're looking for
- 2–4 years of hands-on engineering experience with Python, including building and shipping production systems
- Demonstrated fluency working with large language models — prompting strategies, structured output, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic loops
- Strong product intuition and a bias toward prototyping quickly, testing with real users, and iterating based on what you learn
- Comfortable owning ambiguity: defining problems, designing evaluation frameworks, and making tradeoffs between latency, capability, and reliability
- Excited to work in-person in San Francisco alongside a tight, early-stage team where your fingerprints will be on everything
