The machines we’re designing don’t just follow instructions—they interpret messy, real-world environments and act on them. As a Mechanical Design Engineer on a small, focused hardware team, you’ll own actuator assemblies, structural components, and sensor integration from first sketch through field testing. You’ll spend your days in CAD, in the shop, and on the test rig, iterating rapidly alongside controls and software engineers who need your hardware to be stiff, light, and brutally reliable. This is a role for someone who wants to see their designs bolted onto a robot within weeks, not months.
What they're looking for
- 0–4 years of mechanical design experience, including internships or substantial project work in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or precision automation
- Fluency in parametric CAD (SolidWorks or similar) and a demonstrated ability to produce clean manufacturing drawings with GD&T
- Hands-on fabrication and assembly skills—you’ve built what you’ve designed and know how to use a mill, lathe, and basic shop tools
- Strong intuition for material selection, static and dynamic load paths, and designing for stiffness-to-weight
- Comfortable working in a 20-person startup where you’ll interact directly with electrical, firmware, and systems engineers daily
