Math teachers face a brutal math problem of their own: thirty students, one of them, and no time to give each piece of student work the attention it deserves. We build software that acts as a second pair of eyes in the math classroom, reading student work, surfacing misconceptions, and freeing teachers to teach. As Engineering Lead, you'll own the technical direction of this product end to end — architecture, code quality, and the small team shipping it — while staying close to the code yourself across a Python/FastAPI/Django backend and React frontend deployed on AWS and GCP. This is a hands-on leadership seat at a seed-stage company, remote across Europe, Latin America, and Canada, with a salary of $200K-$250K.
What they're looking for
- 4-8 years of software engineering experience, including time leading or mentoring engineers on a production product
- Strong Python backend skills (FastAPI or Django) plus working comfort with React frontends
- Experience with AWS or GCP, modern Git workflows, and pragmatic use of tools like Jira and Notion to keep a team honest
- Genuine interest in education and the patience to build for real teachers and real classrooms, not a demo
- Comfort with early-stage ambiguity: setting priorities yourself rather than inheriting them
