Founding Operator

This is a zero-to-one operations hire reporting directly to the CEO. You will build the scaffolding that lets a technical founding team ship faster and sell more deliberately — owning everything from customer onboarding flows and pricing experiments to hiring cadences and internal knowledge systems. The company is post-launch, revenue-generating, and deliberately small: under a dozen people, mostly engineers. They need someone who treats ops not as administrative overhead but as a strategic multiplier — someone who writes internal docs with the same clarity they'd expect in a public API reference, who can design a lightweight deal-review process that actually closes revenue, and who spots the operational bottleneck no one else has named yet. This role touches GTM strategy, recruiting, investor updates, compliance groundwork (HIPAA, SOC 2 readiness), and the thousand unglamorous decisions that determine whether a technical breakthrough becomes a real business.
What we're looking for
- 1–4 years in a high-ownership operations, strategy, or chief-of-staff role — ideally at a B2B software or API-first company under 50 people
- Comfortable reading a customer contract, building a revenue dashboard from scratch, or running a pricing analysis in the same afternoon
- Strong enough with data to query a database or build a model, and strong enough with words to draft an investor update without a round of edits
- Radical attention to detail paired with good taste on when process helps versus when it slows people down
- Willing to be in San Francisco five days a week — this is an in-person, shoulder-to-shoulder role with the founders
- Must be based in the United States.
