Staff Backend Engineer

We're hiring a Staff Backend Engineer to lead backend architecture and infrastructure for a healthcare AI platform. You'll work with a 17-person team in San Francisco (hybrid) on systems that support patient care workflows. This role involves designing scalable services across multiple cloud providers, managing data pipelines, and building APIs that integrate with AI/LLM components.

What we're looking for

  • 7+ years of backend engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in distributed systems and cloud architecture
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and experience with at least one major cloud platform (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
  • Experience designing and maintaining message queues (Kafka or RabbitMQ) and event-driven architectures
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tooling like Langchain or similar frameworks for LLM integration
  • Track record of mentoring engineers and leading technical decisions on cross-functional teams
